Thinking of balance and Yin Yang, the struggle between Individuality and Collectivity is one of the two themes we face with some frequency, and in different shades.
Capsuleers are the paramount of individuality, we come and go as we please, we wreck havoc to millions and the universe is shaped for better or worst depending simply on our mood.
On the other side, the Jove have manipulated their each uniqueness so much that they became detached from any other thing and wither alone even in groups.
Sleepers are a harmonic collective that live in a utopian world where there is no need for an individualistic manifestation and everyone is cool with their connectivity detached from the "real" world.
The Sansha are a collective created out of force and control, you have an individual pulling the strings and sharing the mind of millions and calling it enlightenment.
What if some of the Jove and some of the Sleepers decided to embrace a little bit of each others characteristics, out of necessity and adaptability to survive, and trough Sansha tech (probably stolen, wormholes with their presence show they got slaughtered by something or someone) they now we have highly augmented individual manifestations of a collective purpose? After all, the Jove were dying of depression and the Sleepers well.... we ARE committing genocide against them and their guards.
The capsuleer tech is based on the scanning of our brains at the moment of death, and uploading it to a new clone. There are several ways of bad thing happening in this process, such as what happened to Fatal of the Guristas or failing to activate a clone altogether.
It-¦s like a download from a single server to another server.
What if the Drifters are using a highly sophisticated P2P process where the physical bodies are not the servers, but simply a terminal where the manifestation of the conscience that is safely guarded on the collective and ready to present itself in any other body the moment they wish so?
This seems highly adaptable, and makes the best of both worlds (individual and collective) available to them.
And yet, there-¦s still the question of what do they want to do with it..... |
